In 2002, USA Wrestling hosted the first Junior women's freestyle national championships at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. There were 103 women in the tournament. In 2022, there were 946 entries in the 20th event. Two of the women coaching here this year were two of the inaugural champions – Malinda Ripley and Brandy (Rosenbrock) Green.
