It's a new year, but we're just getting to the midway point of the college wrestling season. On Episode 9 of the ODU Wrestling Monarch Matcast, we'll again visit with sophomore Jack Dechow.
Dechow became the first wrestler in school history to win the Midlands Championship with a 13-5 major decision over Penn's Lorenzo Thomas on October 30. Dechow was 0-2 in his career against Thomas prior to the match.
The win was big for Dechow, who got to win a Midlands Championship within an hour of where he grew up in Richmond, Illinois.
We'll also look forward to the Virginia Duals, which comes to the Hampton Coliseum on January 9-10!
