Chances are, when you read something historical about the sport of wrestling, Don Sayenga had a hand in it.

On Episode 290 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we merely scratch the surface with one of the sport's finest historians. A longtime contributor to Amateur Wrestling News and part of a Lehigh Valley cadre of wrestling mavens, Sayenga took his discovery and love for wrestling to a level few have achieved in the wrestling world.

At 82, Sayenga still speaks with reverence about his days competing, but more importantly to him, his days traveling the country and the world as a salesman researching and documenting the history of wrestling.

It's likely Sayenga has written over 1,000 articles and documents about wrestling. His most notable, The Oldest Sport, ran in AWN for decades. A two-time winner of the Bob Dellinger Award, Sayenga's talents in documentation and storytelling put him in rare company. He's got some great stories to tell.

From a personal standpoint, I could have talked to Sayenga for hours, but went with just one — to start.
