How does a tournament that attracts thousands of people from around the country impact an often overlooked part of the country?

We'll find out on Episode 184 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast where we talk with Dr. Tim Mahoney, the mayor of Fargo. Mahoney grew up in North Dakota and headed to Notre Dame and got some serious degrees along the way. He went back to Fargo in 1980 and worked as a surgeon, a job he still holds today.

We'll talk with Mahoney about the economic impact of the USA Wrestling Cadet and Junior Nationals on the metropolitan area, how the oil boom in western North Dakota has shaped the Fargo population (it's in the east, in case you're geographically challenged) and how the community welcomes the wrestlers and coaches who compete in the Fargodome every year.

I also go into a bit of a history lesson, explaining how I got to Fargo way back in 1999.
