Alan Rice, coach of the 1972 Greco-Roman Olympic wrestling team will go “On the Mat” this Wednesday, September 14.

“On the Mat” is a presentation of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. The show can be heard live on the Internet at www.kcnzam.com or locally in Northeast Iowa each Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Central on AM 1650, The Fan.

During the months of August and September the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum will conduct “champions” interviews with champions outside the sport of wrestling. There will also be regular interviews with wrestlers and coaches.

Rice coached the 1972 Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling team. He won double national titles (freestyle and Greco-Roman) in 1956, and placed fifth at the Olympics that year in Greco-Roman. Rice is also the namesake of the Alan and Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions.

The Alan and Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions induction ceremony will take place on the campus of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on October 1.
